Q: What do I get if I order a prototype kit?
A: A kit consisting of all the parts for the WEBENCH design as specified
in the Build It bill of materials (BOM) (if they are in stock).
Q: How does the process work?
A: You will be asked to enter your shipping address, credit card number
and confirm the order. The parts are then sent to you via overnight carrier
or other method you specify.
Q: How long will it take to get my custom kit?
A: Orders are normally shipped the same day if they are received prior
to 6PM US Central Time. The time it takes to arrive depends on the shipping
method used.
Q: What is the cost of the Build It kit?
A: The cost of the kit is shown on the order page.
Q: How many Build It kits can I get?
A: You can order up to 5 prototype kits at once through this program.
You can adjust the quantities of any or all components up to 5 times the
number required for 1 kit.
Q: Are there minimum order quantities?
A: Yes, some parts, particularly small resistors and capacitors, have
minimum order quantities. This is indicated on the order form.
Q: Why should I get a prototype kit?
A: While the WEBENCH simulators are verified with bench data, they still
have inaccuracies. So we strongly suggest that you test a prototype of
your board under your specific conditions to verify the simulation results.
We have attempted to make this as easy and economical as possible with
the Build It program.
Q: What if some parts are out of stock (yellow color in the Build
It bill of materials) or not part of the program (red color in the Build
It bill of materials)?
A: You may order the remaining parts in the kit even if some of the parts
are not in stock or not part of the program.
Q: Can I order some parts in a kit and not others? For example, I
would like all the components but not the bare PC board.
A: Yes, you may adjust the quantities of any part down to zero in the
order form.
Q: How difficult is it to solder a Build It kit?
A: The build it kit contains some small surface mount components such
as the 1206 package style. The kits can certainly be soldered by hand,
but it takes some skill and it helps to be familiar with surface mount
soldering techniques.
Q: I'm not very good with a soldering iron. Can I get a pre-soldered
board?
A: You may be able to purchase a generic pre-soldered board which is not
customized to your design. If this is available, you will see a tab on
the Build It screen indicating so.
